Hutchings and Van Nest Pick Up Thunder Alley Season Ending Victories

Evans Mills NY… Caprara’s Thunder Alley Speed Park kicked off the end of the season with a 4 cylinder open and a 75 lap enduro on Sunday, September 13, 2009.

Wendy Dadson and Robert Scott would lead the four cylinder open to the green with Robert Scott taking the early lead on the field. Jim Money would quickly work his way up from his eighth place starting position to take over the lead on the field by lap number two. Claude Hutchings would work the high side of the speedway and move by Jim Money to command the field while Steve Denton, Glen Irwin and Robert Scott would round out the top five. Tim Dunn moved from his fifth place starting position into the second spot. Randy Knight moved around Mike Trapp to take the fourth position while Tim Dunn quickly moved to the back bumper of Claude Hutchings. As the checkered flag waved, Claude Hutchings would pick up the win over Tim Dunn and Robert Scott.

The win for the 75 Lap enduro would go to Stan Van Nest with Doug Matthews and Rob Martin rounding out the top three.

2009 Points Champions Crowned At Caprara’s Thunder Alley

Evans Mills NY… Caprara’s Thunder Alley Speed Park hosted their final Saturday night of regular racing on Saturday, August 29, 2009. The speedway also crowned their 2009 Points Champions in all divisions. In racing action were the DIRTcar Sportsman, DIRTcar Street Stocks, IMCA Modifieds, Mod Lites, Purestocks and Thunder Cars.

Christine Martin and Ken Bearup would lead the DIRTcar Sportsman to the green flag with Ken Bearup taking control of the field. Chris Raabe would move under Brandon Swet for the fifth position while Mike Trapp would look to gain the second position from Christine Martin. Chris Raabe would move to the outside of Jeff Rowe coming into turn three and four to take the fourth position as Ken Bearup would continue to lead the way. As the field hit the half way mark, Ken Bearup would lead the way with Mike Trapp, Chris Raabe, Christine Martin and Brandon Sweet rounding out the top five. Brandon Sweet would move to the inside of Christine Martin coming into turns three and four to take the fourth position. Ken Bearup would go on to collect the win over Mike Trapp and Luke Whittaker. Chris Raabe would be the 2009 DIRTcar Sportsman Track Champion.

Mike Durham and Richard Stone would lead the DIRTcar Street Stocks to the green flag with Dave Mannise moving to the inside of the backstretch and coming out with the lead while Dave Pope moved under Mike Durham for the second position. Richard Stone would make the move under Mike Durham for the third spot while Kenny Hamm would take over fourth. Dave Mannise would stretch out his lead on the field while Dave Pope would continue to hold the second spot. Dave Mannise would go on to collect the win over Dave Pope and Keith Doxtater. Dave Pope would be the 2009 DIRTcar Street Stock Track Champion.

Dale Jewett and Chris Thurston would lead the IMCA Modified Features to the green flag with Dale Jewett jumping out to the early lead while Chris Thurston and JJ Courcy filled out the top three. JJ Courcy would slip under Chris Thurston to take over the second position while Kevan Cook would power by Ryan Scott for the fifth spot. JJ Courcy would power under Dale Jewett to take the lead on lap six while Kevan Cook took over second from Chris Thurston. Kevan Cook would take the win over Dale Jewett and Ryan Scott. Ryan Scott would be the 2009 IMCA Modified Champion,Tiger Chapman and Sam Usborne led the Mod Lites to their feature racing action with Sam Usborne using the high side to jump out to the early lead. Bruce Broedel and Mike Bruce ran side by side for the second position while Bruce moved under Usborne and Broedel moved around Bruce to take the first and second positions. Lowell Zehr quickly moved from his tenth place starting position into the top four while Gary Jeffries entered the top five. As the checkered flag dropped, Mike Bruce will collect the win over Bruce Broedel and Gary Jeffries. Rich Rainville would take the 2009 Mod Lite Track Championship.

Joel Hall and Jeff Trapp would lead the Thunder Car division to the green flag with Robert Martin jumping out to the lead from his fourth place starting position. Zak Petrie would move around Dan Way and Matt Marcinko to take over fifth position. Petrie would continue to drive around the high side of the speedway moving around John Holder and entering the top three. As the checkered flag dropped, Zak Petrie would get the win over Robert Martin and Robert Scott. Zak Petrie would be the 2009 Thunder Car Track Champion.

Verne Harris and Steven Gilmore would lead the Purestocks to the green flag with Verne Harris taking control of the field as they headed into turn number one. Steven Gilmore would move to the outside of Verne Harris to take the lead while David Rogers would move to the outside of Jason Gilmore to take over the third position as the first four cars would run nose to tail around the track. Jason Gilmore would move back to the inside of David Rogers to take the third spot. When the checkered flag dropped, Steven Gilmore would take the win over David Rogers and Verne Harris. David Rogers would be the 2009 Purestock Champion.

Thunder Alley Speed Park will host their final event of racing in the 2009 on Sunday, September 13, 2009 when the track will host a 75 lap enduro and a 4 Cylinder open. More information on the 2009 season at Caprara’s Thunder Alley can be found at www.thunderalleyspeedpark.com
